Duddy kravitz a & # 8220 ; little, narrow-chested male child of 15 with a thin face. His black eyes were ringed with dark circles & # 8221 ; . This is how he is described in the novel The Apprenticeship of Duddy Kravitz physically. Duddy kravitz a schoolboy, category president of room fourty one, leader of a group of male childs, and comes from a Judaic background. As normal as this all may sound deep within he is a male child built from many different features to do him who he is in the novel. Not merely a normal mean Judaic child, but besides person much more complex. He denies his insecurities, enjoys position, likes being the Centre of attending, and a male child who lacks moral in himself.

From the novel so far ( chapters 1-10 ) we can see that a male child like Duddy springs from low beginnings, but clearly, he is really eager to go a successful and powerful adult male. & # 8220 ; & # 8230 ; His bony cheeks were criss-crossed with abrasions as he shaved twice daily in his effort to promote a beard. & # 8221 ; This clearly indicates to the readers that Duddy wants and attempts to be person that he is non. He wants himself and others to believe that he is of great significance. The fact that his friends, household and others reject him makes his self-projected image even more overriding. He must convert himself and others that he is a really of import figure and he does this by denying his insecurities.

Another obvious feature he shows throughout the novel is that he enjoys holding position among the group of friends. He wants to be the 1 who is endangering, and above all the other male childs. He doesn & # 8217 ; t like it when people insult him or acquire in his manner, as in making something, which he dislikes, or person stating something, which disagrees with him. We can see this when he says & # 8216 ; We know how to cover with tuchusleckers here & # 8217 ; he says this to Hersh when Duddy was giving MacPherson a difficult clip and Hersh told Duddy to

‘Leave him alone’ . This made Duddy angry as he doesn’t like people differing with his behaviors, and so he beckon his fist at Hersh and says that.

Throughout the novel you are able to see that Duddy is a male child, which needs & # 8216 ; face & # 8217 ; all the clip. He likes to affect the male childs, so that they look up to him. He & # 8217 ; ll do anything for attending and enjoys really much being the Centre of attending all the clip. We can state through the prevarications he makes up about his brother Bradley. He tells the male childs that & # 8216 ; I got a missive from hello merely yesterday aft, he said every bit shortly as I & # 8217 ; m finished up at Fletcher & # 8217 ; s field he wants me to come down to Arizona to assist out at the spread like & # 8217 ; . Equally good as stating them unbelievable storied of his brother and how he joined the air force, done for battlewagons, married a rich adult male & # 8217 ; s girl and opened a spread in Arizona, and so on. All of these being prevarications but with one intent, because he wanted to hold something to affect the male childs with. He wanted them to look up to him and he enjoyed holding Centre of attending when he was stating them these narratives.

After cognizing that MacPherson & # 8217 ; s married woman is dead, we learn that it was because Duddy buffoonery called her and so she ended up dead for some evident ground. Even though MacPherson tells Duddy that he is a liquidator, and that it was him who had murdered his married woman when he had buffoonery called her, Duddy & # 8217 ; s response was slightly cold. He acted like it was a large trade and that he didn & # 8217 ; t even think it was his mistake at all. & # 8216 ; What does he intend I killed his God dam married woman? I didn & # 8217 ; t intend nil all the clip. Nothing. We & # 8217 ; re all in this together understand? & # 8217 ; It shows that non merely does he non remorse for what he has done but he in fact attempts to convey the whole group of male childs in this muss even though it was him who created it. This shows that he is a male child with really small understanding for anyone. He lacks ethical motives in himself and is non able to happen topographic point in his bosom for understanding in what he has done to MacPherson.
