Kya AmbuehlChoirMr. NeisenJanuary 8, 2018Emily Feld I am doing my paper on Emily Feld. She was born on July 9, 1993 She grew up in Rosemount, Minnesota and then she went to college in Moorhead, Minnesota and  Cambridge University in England. Then she moved back to Rosemount so now she is living in Rosemount, Minnesota. Music was a big part of her live since she was young. She started taking piano lessons when she was only 5 years old. Being a composer is her main job! She graduated with a bachelor of a Music degree in Piano Performance. She has written 35-40 pieces, all of them are in either instrumental or choral. That includes when she was developing her voice as a composer.  He most well known piece is The Peace of Wild Things. It was published in 2016. She open up her own studio in Rosemount. She loves working with kids of all ages. So my first piece is called Christ has No Body. I really like the title and how it made me think about some of the stuff that is going on in my life. It mostly stuck out to me because of the name but also bacause it made me think. It made me think about when is happening in my life which it is kinda personal and with my family. My family is just going through a hard time so I just felt like this song made me really think about it.  This song is written in SATB. It says on the website that I used that a Congas was the instrument. I didn’t find any back story on the internet. There was really nothing on the internet about the backstory of the songs because she has a lot of songs so that would be hard to write a backstory on each one of her pieces. The second piece that I picked is called The Piece of Wild Things. I picked it because I like the recording that I was really good. And it sounded really good. I also like it because the I like the title of it, it just sounds cool. It stuck out to me because of the name but when I listened to it, I really liked how it sounded! It made me think of the children’s book Where the Wild Things are because of the name of the piece.  Also it made me think about how Emily Feld wrote this and it is really good! This song is written in SATB. It doesn’t say that there was any instruments used and in the recording it doesn’t sound like there is any instruments.  It like sounds like a sad song at the beginning but towards the middle it starts sounding happier but most of it is pretty sad sounding. That’s how I thought of it as. It starts out in the beginning as slow and the same with the happy or sad towards the middle it gets faster.  This song is was written in English. It doesn’t really have a backstory online that I found.  There was really nothing except that she was inspired by a poem. The third piece that I picked is called  Love Came Down. I choose this piece because I liked the name and I really like that it is written in SATB and has a piano part for the piece. It stuck out to me because of the name and the piano piece. It was written in SATB and I didnt look at the sheet music. The website that I used said that I was written in SATB. I already said this but it has a piano part and in the recording that I listened to I couldn’t hear the piano part but it says on the website that there was a piano part. One reason why I like it is because I like choral piece that have a piano part or a instrument part in the song. The song is a slower song at first but after towards the middle it gets a little faster. I can’t really tell if it is happy or sad. But I think of it as a happy song more than a sad song. Love Came Down is in the english. Same with the other songs it doesn’t have a back story online. I wrote about the songs that I choose because I really like the titles of them and how they sounded too! Emily Feld is a great Composer and i’m glad that I recommended to do Emily as my topic of my paper. I dont think that the music of Emily Feld sound alike. Some of the differences between the songs are that they each have a different sound to the song and two of them had instruments and one of them didn’t. One of the songs had a congas and one had a piano. The same voice parts are the same for all of the songs that I picked. One of the songs that I pick wasn’t all in english but the other two were in english. I emailed Emily Feld to get some of the answers. That was really cool because she actually emailed me back and she was super nice.  I am realy glad that I picked her to research her for the end of the semester one paper. I learned a lot of stuff that I didnt even know before. I had to look most of it up but It was fine.  I’m really glad to learn and talk to Emily Feld. I think she should come and speak to the class because she would be so fun to speak to in person. I emailed Emily Feld and she  said that it was very nice of Mr. Neisen to tell me to a paper in her. And then she asked me what my questions were and I send her a email with some of my questions.
