To Whom It May Concern:
My name is (name here) and I am submitting this letter to signify my intent to withdraw from this University.
My time at The University has been a wonderful experience for me. I have learned so much from my stay here. I have learned many important things that will not only be useful in my career in the future but also in my personal life. While I was at the University, I met many new people, some of whom I have forged lasting friendships with. I have also met many brilliant students and professors who have given me a fresh perspective on many matters and on life. I cannot fully express just how grateful I am for the experience that has been given to me and for the opportunity that this University has given me to be able to become a better person.
It saddens me that this wonderful experience must come to an end due to circumstances beyond my control. Just recently I have learned of an important family matter that will require me to devote all of my time and effort. It is a painful decision for me or anyone for that matter, to have to decide between an education and family. This is probably what people mean when they lament that life isn’t fair.
I hope that one day I will be able to resolve this matter and maybe be given the opportunity to someday continue my studies at this prestigious university. I would like to thank you again for this wonderful experience that you have given me and hope that this will not be the end of my learning nor of my growth both intellectually and emotionally.
I appreciate the time that you have spent to read this letter and wish everyone the best.
Thank you for your patience and understanding
