Choosing a destination for your vacation may be the easiest part of planning the whole trip but planning the details of it is the hard part. Some people have it down to a science and some do it all last minute. When you wait until the last minute to plan your trip it can end up being very expensive. I prefer to keep it simple and take my time planning my trip, keeping it as stress free as possible. The first step in planning your vacation is choosing the destination. Make sure that it is somewhere that you and/or your companion are going to enjoy. If you are planning to go out of the country, don’t forget that you will need a passport.
This is very important because without it you can’t even step foot on an airplane. It is also important that you don’t wait until the last minute to get your passport. They can take up to six weeks but no more than ten weeks to get your passport. The prices on passports vary between two types. There is a land passport, which you can only use going over the borders of Mexico or Canada on land by car, train, bus, etc. and it generally cost about fifty dollars, and the other type is your general passport and this one you use to get anywhere in the world.
This passport will cost you about one hundred and thirty-five dollars. You must now start saving your money for your trip. Vacations are expensive, that is why you take them only once or twice a year. Usually what I do is total up my expenses and put a certain amount of money away into my savings account every week. As you prepare to leave for your vacation you should begin packing your luggage about two or three days before leave for your vacation. Packing early makes for less stress on the day you leave because you will be stressing out enough trying to make sure that you have all your belongings.
Start by packing the basic essentials such as socks, undergarments and t-shirts. Then pack a few pairs of jeans and/or slacks, dressier shirts for going out in. Don’t forget the bathing suit too. You’re going on vacation so pack comfortably When you have chosen the location and received your passport the next thing you must do is choose the dates that you will be going on your vacation but you must also make sure that they corresponds with the climate. If you decide to go to a warmer climate then you may want to go between the months of October and May because the temperatures are not so extreme.
If the hot summer months are what you enjoy, then I recommend that you go on vacation from June through September. On the other hand, if you choose to go to a cooler climate where it snows in the winter months I would go during the summer. After you choose your destination the next thing you must do is reserve your airfare and hotel. This may be tough because there are many websites and travel agents that you can go through. I have found that it is cheaper and easier to go through Expedia. com. You can book your hotel and flight all together and pay one low price.
I have also found that flying with Southwest Airlines is very cheap and they have many one way stops all across the country and for a cheap hotel that is very nice I recommend the Extended Stay America. While you are on your vacation make sure you make plenty of time for sightseeing. If you are going to the Caribbean or someplace that has a beautiful body of water that had lots of ocean life in it then I recommend going diving or snorkeling. This is a great way to get in touch with what nature has to offer. On the other hand if you decide to go someplace more inland like Las Vegas, Nevada then I would recommend checking out the hotels there.
The hotels there all have a certain theme, such as The Luxor hotel and Casino. When you walk into that hotel it is like walking into a little piece of Egypt. Everywhere you turn there are replicas of sarcophagi and sculptures. Another gorgeous hotel is The Venetian which is an Italian theme hotel. Before you go into the hotel you first see a little river around the outside of the hotel that also goes into the hotel and you see and hear the gondoliers singing on the river and you can even take a ride on one.
When you walk into the hotel, it is like walking through the stone streets of a small town in Italy. There are little sidewalk cafes lining the streets along with small shops and bakeries. This hotel is my personal favorite. Another trip I would take is going rock climbing on the mountains in the dessert. I have never done it but I have heard that the views are absolutely breathtaking. Finally you must make time for yourself by relaxing and pampering yourself. I like to pick one day where I am going to just relax and pay attention to me. I start by not setting an alarm and just sleeping in.
Then making an appointment for the spa/salon where I get a massage, pedicure and manicure. Take your time there, you have the whole day to relax and enjoy. I believe that it is important for everyone to take a vacation every once in a while. Everyday life can be stressful between your job, family, the economy, etc. Everybody has certain reservations about making plans to go on vacations but you should do it for your own mental and physical wellbeing. The economy is not in the greatest shape but if you budget right and save your money you can have a great stress-free vacation.
